The Ambivalent Mind Destroyed! The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines ambivalence as simultaneous and contradictory attitudes or feelings toward an object, person, or action. Other connotations for that word are also fluctuation and uncertainty. In my profession ambivalence is often a sign of internal conflict. It is a battle that occurs in the mind that can affect all areas of an individual's life. It really boils down to not being able to make decisions.
